Les diplômes délivrés en Angleterre s’intègrent à la classification LMD européenne :

Semestres universitaire

Il est possible de faire un semestres universitaire ou deux, ce qui permet de valider 30 crédits ECTS à votre retour en France (pour 4 matières étudiées). Ceci est un formidable programme pour les césures afin de diversifier ses compétences ou découvrir un autre domaine d’études. Pour les Bacheliers indécis sur les études qu’ils souhaitent faire, c’est un bon moyen pour découvrir 3 ou 4 domaine d’études afin de faire son choix.

Bachelor (licence)

Le Bachelor (licence) est une formation après le Bac qui dure 3 ou 4 ans en Angleterre. Il est possible de le faire 4 ans et d’obtenir un Bachelor « Honours » qui permet de continuer ses études vers un Master au UK et même en Irlande. Généralement cette 4e année permet de faire un stage ou de partir à l’étranger.

International Year One

Pour les étudiants Post Bac, l’International Year One est la solution qui facilite l’intégration des étudiants internationaux au sein des universités brittaniques. Cette 1ère année de licence permet aux internationaux de suivre exactement le même programme de première année de bachelor mais dans des classes plus restreintes avec un cours additionnel sur les techniques de travail et l’anglais. Au final les étudiants qui intégrent ensuite en 2è année de bachelor « classique » se voient obtenir de meilleurs résultats grâce à cette premiere année et ce sans perdre de temps car la durée du bachelor sera la même pour tous. 

Les post BTS/DUT

Certains établissements britanniques peuvent reconnaître des BTS et DUT. Cela permet d’intégrer directement une 3ème année de licence et d’obtenir ainsi un Bachelor en 1 an (ou 2 ans en fonction du Bachelor intégré).

Les programmes Masters et Doctorat

  • Vous intégrez un Master une fois votre Licence en poche. Les étudiants déjà titulaires d’un Master dans le même domaine peuvent faire une demande de crédits et ainsi réduire la durée et le coût de leur séjour.  Comme indiqué précédemment, pour intégrer certains Masters en Angleterre, il faudra avoir fait 4 ans d’études auparavant: donc soit un Bachelor Honours soit une licence et une année de M1. Pour d’autres masters, une licence en 3 ans est suffisante, mais dans ce cas, le master durera plus d’un an.

La plupart des universités Britanniques font preuve de souplesse au niveau des domaines d’études. Ainsi, une personne ayant étudiée un domaine pendant sa licence, pourra le changer durant son Master. Cela permet d’avoir des compétences diversifiées et complémentaires dans certains cas, ce qui est très recherché sur le marché du travail actuel.

  • Doctorat: les programmes Phd sont accessibles aux titulaires de Master et permettent d’approfondir un sujet en particulier et de faire de la recherche sur ce thème. Pour accéder à un Doctorat, il faut avoir un projet en tête et avoir un professeur de l’université visée qui souhaite devenir votre tuteur.

Quel niveau d'anglais faut-il avoir pour étudier en Angleterre ?

Pour être admis à l’université en Angleterre, il faudra prouver son niveau d’anglais avec un test tel que l’IELTS ou le Toefl. Les scores requis varient d’un programme à un autre.

Si jamais vous n’avez pas le niveau demandé, vous pourrez faire une remise à niveau dans l’université choisie. Le programme de remise à niveau fonctionnera alors comme une passerelle pour entrer directement dans le Bachelor ou Master visé.
